CARLEY AND YO ATLAS: HOW IT HAPPENED
Carley began life in a fanfiction by
killyoudead. The mun was rather taken by the idea of a post-series Jack-and-Carley the way
killyoudead described them, and lots of half-assed backstory plotting, editing programs, and help from friends later, a pup was born.
A DARK SIGNER'S BIOGRAPHY (only not exactly)
Carley was brought back from the Dark Signers during one of the final battles between the Signers and Dark Signers. Although Jack led the effort to restore his friend to both life and her non-evil state, her original form was a collective effort by four of the five Signers. The remaining Signer, Godwin, argued with the others about whether or not the balance of destiny would allow Carley a second chance at life without destroying The World As We Know It and, in a roundabout way, doing the Dark Signers' work for them. As a result her transformation back could not be totally completed. Luckily, the remaining changes are only physical: Carley still bears a scar from her Aslla Piscu mark, and the red marker that formed beneath her eye after her death has never faded.
Following Carley's revival, she stayed with Martha and a recovering Yuusei until she wasn't quite so close to a nervous breakdown (caused by a myriad of factors including suddenly being alive, Godwin trying to kill her again, and the loss of Misty after the final battle). She moved back to her flat in Neo Domino City after Yuusei managed to smooth over most of the drama between her, Jack, and Godwin, and Jack took Martha's place as Carley's main supporter. Eventually the pair of them started dating and got their happy (if hectic) ending after all: Jack and Carley's third anniversary would have been about a month away when Carley landed in the DR, and the pair has a single daughter, Yo Atlas. In her non-DR life, Carley finally got a junior editor position at the paper, and occasionally writes a column for the paper. The one tradeoff in all this happiness (although it may not be such a bad thing, really): since Jack won back the title of King (another long story for another day), Carley *is* the news, and so can no longer be a beat reporter due to conflict of interest. Now there's a scoop!
